Once I finished editing, I saved the video into QuickTime movie. I did this by using the file tool on final cut and clicking the 'export' tool.

I then uploaded the video onto youtube by clicking the 'upload' button and pick the video to upload from my documents.

After waiting about 2 minitues my video was uploaded.

Documentary Research

The Murder at Gorse hall

I have read a Wikipedia article about my subject, and I am using it as my first form of secondary research. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_George_Harry_Storrs

The wikipedia articule informes me by using facts and historical evidence. It also gives me a list of petensiol susbects.

"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Who committed the crime ?

As the two trials resulted in two acquittals, no-one knows for sure. However, there are quite a few suspects :
  • James Worrell worked with knives and guns, but had no reason to murder his master.
  • Some people felt that James Storrs and/or Maggie Storrs hired a hitman. While James had no real motive, Maggie probably did know about Maria's baby.
  • Cornelius had no alibi, but again, had no real reason.
  • Mark Wilde had a compelling case against him, even though his mother had given an alibi for him. He suffered from mood swings, possibly caused by syphilis. Although he and George were enemies, Julian Fellowes feels he wouldn't have done it.
A year after the murder, Mrs Storrs had Gorse Hall torn down."

I have discovred a online video of an educational tour about the Gorse Hall mysetry. I am using this as my first form of Primary Research.
This video has been posted onto youtube. I have posted a link and a screenshot below this text.

I have found a local website specialising in the history of gorse hall. The following images are screen shots of the website. This is my second form of secondary research.
This is another historical website. It is simulair to the local site expect that this was a national site, so it only featured one page of information.
I have contacted the website using their email service.
This is a screenshot from the website. This message appears when you click onto their 'contact us' link to their email address.
I have created a Polljunkie account and I have uploaded my questionnaire onto the polljunkie website.
I have added a link to the results underneath this text.

I have uploaded a link to my pulljunkie questionnaire on the social networking site Google+.(Above)
I have also uploaded a link to my pulljunkie onto the social media site, Twitter. (Below)

I have created a Prezi online, this presentation is used to tally the results of my questionnaire. I have pasted the link is below this text.

One week before filming, I had written a script for my documentary which includes an introduction and a reconstruction sequence.

5.1: Documentary Pre-Production

Storyboards: The first task of my video production project was to create storyboards for my documentary. These storyboards were my ideas for my cutaway sequences. I already had chosen the music for the documentary, so I featured it in the audio chart.  I had also created a storyboard for the reconstruction.

Call Sheets: The call sheets were a task that was completed just before filming. The call sheets are for organising filming times and schedules. Such as, locations, lunch and time arrival and departure. These call sheets were for each day of the filming.

Recce: A Recce is basically a pre-filimg visit to a location to discover weather or not it would be suitable for shooting. For my Recce, I used Google Maps. For my Recce I also mentioned about the lighting information, I had used natural light for my documentary. And had explained about my target audience that are aged from 15 - 65. And are working class, lower middle class and middle class audiences.

Risk Assement

A risk assessment is a form that is filled out during the pre-production of a film or television program. For the risk assessment a filmmaker must identify the hazards and solutions before filming can begin.

5.2: Technical Production

My documentary is based on the Murder of George Harry Storris, which took place in Gorse Hall.

Filming for my documentary began on the 17th of January and concluded on the 24th of January. It was a Four day shoot. It was filmed on the days that I had off because the location of Gorse hall is over two miles away from Hyde Clarendon.

For my documentary I used two Cameras, A Nikon D3200.

And a Sony HD Handycam.

Both camera's are home equipment and do not belong to Hyde Clarendon.

Although both cameras film in 1080p HD and both run on SD memory cards, the decision to film with both was not intentional. This was because half way through filming, the Nikon's lens broke. I used the Sony HD Handycam to film the remaining of my documentary.

I used a Hano Tripod for the filming of my documentary.

Filming locations were in Stalybridge town centre, Ashton Under-lyne and Gorse Hall.

The soundtrack choice was a piece of music from the film 'In Bruges'.

5.3: Post-Production

Finished Documentary:

Step 1) Editing the Video:
After capturing the video from my camera, I dragged the footage into the timeline. Because my camera uses an SD memory card my footage was already split up into pieces. All I needed to do was to cut where I wanted it too, using the razor tool. I also deleted additional footage which I didn't need by using the backspace key. Once I had edited all my footage, I started to put them into sequences.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 2) Editing the audio:
After editing the video, I started to edit the audio.I deleted the audio, by using the razor tool.
*Voiceover - For the voiceover I used the tools bar, scrolled down and clicked on 'voiceover'.  The voiceover bar opens with a record button in the centre,  once clicked, it captures your voiceover.

Step 3) Editing the music
The third step in the editing process was to add and edit the music onto my film. I downloaded a soundtrack off youtube by using an mp3 converter online. I imported the music onto my final cut project.
When the music uploaded onto final cut, I rendered it by holding the cmd+R button.

Step 4) The Voiceover:
After I finshed editing the video, audio and music, I had recorded a voiceover, I did this by scrolling towards the tools bar and clicking on 'Voiceover' and pressing the record button.

Step 5) Uploading: When the edit was finished I uploaded the video onto Youtube.

5.4: Video Production: Documentary Reviews

How successful is your product compared with your original idea ?
I feel that my final product was moderately successful compared to my original idea. Some of the ideas for the reconstration did not work the way I wanted it too, mainly because the editing software I used had a technical issues. My cutaways improved from my original ideas and fit in more efficiently.

What did your audience samples say about your finished product ?
The audience generally believes my documentary was interesting yet informative. Although one commented that some of the footage is a bit shaky.

What tasks did you carry out from start to finish ? (Powerpoint)
